The Spirit Behind the Sweets

Hi! I’m Liz, the heart behind Boo & Batter. I’m a home baker in Chapin, SC making cakesicles and cake pops that are as fun to look at as they are to eat — a little spooky, a lot sweet, and always loaded with more toppings than strictly necessary.

Why “Boo”?

My love for Halloween started as a kid. My mom made it feel as magical as Christmas — every year she’d pull out the box of decorations and let me decide where everything went. I’d cover our living room top to bottom, and to little me it was pure magic. It’s something I never wanted to outgrow, so I never did. Every Halloween my family and I dress up in sheets and sunglasses for our annual ghost picture, a tradition I started before my youngest was even born. “Boo” is for that, for Halloween, and for my husband — it was his childhood nickname. “Batter” is for the delicious part.

Why “Loaded”?

As a teenager I worked at a local ice cream shop here in Chapin, and I loved building the creations most of all. I never wanted to make a normal treat — I wanted it loaded. Full of toppings, full of flavor, and looking as good as it tasted. I may have been a little too generous with the toppings, but that instinct stuck with me. It’s exactly how I make cake pops now: pretty, loaded, and worth the “best cake pop ever” reaction.

The People Part

I’ve been a hairstylist for about fifteen years, and I’ve always loved the people side of it as much as the creative side — listening, and making someone feel seen and heard. Baking turned out to be the same instinct in a different form. Every order is someone’s celebration, treat-yourself moment, or Tuesday that needed improving, and I don’t take that lightly.

Come Say Boo

Thank you for being here while I turn one of my wild ideas into something real. Whether you’re grabbing a quick treat for yourself or ordering a bundle to share, I’m so glad you stopped by — and stay spooky-sweet!
